A list of the best AI software for writing and content creation

In this post I’ll show you 5 awesome AI writing software tools that’ll help you save hours on content creation.

As you probably know, writing copy and creating content can take up a big portion of your time, especially if you are a blogger. The truth is that writing consistently day in and day out can be very hard, especially if you’re new to writing.

Some days you produce thousands of words, others just a few, it’s all part of being a writer…or is it?

If you struggle with writing content or want to create and publish your content faster, I’ve got great news…

There are 5 amazing AI software that can help speed up your writing process without you needing to spend hours in front of your laptop.

Let’s dive right in…

What is the best AI writing Software?

Here are my top picks for the best AI writing software this year.

1. Jasper

One of the most popular AI writing software

Jasper helps you create content faster

Jasper (prev. Jarvis and Conversion.AI) is a fairly new AI writing software that first saw the market in January 2021. But being new on the market haven’t stopped them from becoming one of the leaders in the industry. Recently they raised a $125M Series A at a $1.5B valuation, bringing it to unicorn status in just 18 short months.

With Jasper you get to choose from over 50 different writing skills like: paragraph generator, blog post topic ideas, Amazon product features, Quora answers, ridiculous marketing ideas, and much more. And all of the skills have been trained on industry best-practices and proven to work examples.

If you like writing, you can speed up that too with the Jasper Command feature. Simply start writing and the AI will complete the sentence for you…like magic. To improve the output quality even more, before it starts writing, it also analyzes your last 3K characters.

Jasper has a modern feel, is very user friendly, so it’s a good alternative if you want to give an AI writing software a shot.

Key features:

  • 50+ use-cases: Use the AI to create almost anything you can imagine, from Facebook ads and emails to improving content and unique value proposition.
  • Long-form content: Use Jasper to help you create long-form content like blog posts, faster and with more efficiency.
  • Work with your team: Being able to work with your team is a crucial thing if you have a bigger business. With Jasper you can invite five of your mates right away.
  • Generate art: Use the AI engine to generate one of a kind images and art works in seconds. Now you can match your unique text with equally as unique images.
  • JasperChat: By utilizing ChatGPT, Jasper has been able to create an interactive AI chatbot that can help you with almost anything you can imagine. All you have to do is ask…

Best feature: The Chrome extension

In my mind, this is the best feature since it opens up the world for editing. You’re no longer locked to one editor at one place.

With the Chrome extension you can take Jasper with you wherever you go.

Why is this so good?

Because, it pretty much becomes your sidekick wherever you are. As long as it’s text based, Jasper can give you a hand.

When working with Google docs, you can use it to improve grammar, change the tone of your writing, or overcome writer’s block. Or if you want help coming up with a clever tweet, Jasper can help with that too.

You can even use it to respond to questions on Quora, write emails, and why not create a short social post while you’re at it. There is almost no case where Jasper can’t help you write better and faster.

Pricing:

  • Promotion: 5-day free trial with 10K credits
  • Annual discount: Yes – Save 17%
  • Starter plan: (20K words/month) Starts at $29/month or $24/month (billed annually)
  • Boss Mode plan: (50K words/month) Starts at $59/month or $49/month (billed annually)
  • Business plan: Custom plan and price

What I like and dislike with Jasper

Like:

  • Large Facebook community with over 70K members.
  • A very good help section with lots of articles covering many topics. And if you join a live training you get 5,000 bonus words as a thanks.
  • JasperChat is a really nice feature that makes creating content and coming up with ideas a breeze.
  • The long-form content creator really speeds up the process for creating things like blog drafts. Even though it still needs some editing, getting over the initial writer’s block and not having to stare at a blank page for hours is nice.
  • Supports over 25 languages, so you can generate text that fits a broader audience.
  • If you have a team, Jasper allows you to bring them on for the ride. With up to five team members access right from the start.
  • The ‘Ridiculous Marketing Ideas’ generator is just pure fun.

Dislike:

  • If you want to optimize your content for SEO, you need to integrate Surfer SEO. The same thing goes for the plagiarism checker, then you need Copyscape. Both of those are sold separately.
  • Boss Mode is pretty much a necessity if you work with long-form content. If you publish lots of blog posts frequently, you will burn through the words quickly.
  • If you’re a blogger and produces a lot of content ‘Boss Mode’ is a must. The downside is that the words get expensive if you need a lot of them.

Writesonic is a very feature rich Ai writing software, and has the ability to generate content for a bunch of different scenarios, both short and long-form. It almost has as many features as CopyAI but with a slightly lower price tag.

With so many features at your disposal, there’s almost nothing the AI can’t help you with. No matter if you’re struggling with writer’s block or want help with a Youtube description, the Writesonic is there to help.

  • Long-Form plan: (47.5K good words) Starts at $19/month or $13/month (billed annually)

What I like and dislike with Writesonic

Like:

  • It’s very comprehensive and has a feature for almost any scenario. You could say it’s CopyAI with slightly fewer features and a lower price tag.
  • ChatSonic is accessible on all plans, so you don’t need to tie yourself down to any particular plan to use it.
  • The SEMrush integration helps you optimize your content for SEO.
  • Very affordable pricing. You can get the ‘Long-Form’ plan with 187K “Good” words for $49/month, that’s barely the entrance barrier for some other writers.
  • Has a bunch of free tools for you to play around with.
  • The help section is packed with detailed guides and tutorials.

Dislike:

  • Why put a price tag on the “quality” of the words? 190K economy words are just 19k premium ones for the same price. Does this mean that the results will be 10x better if you write with only premium words? But then you’d need a more expensive plan to get enough words.

What I like and dislike with CopyAI

Like:

  • A lot of free AI writing tools. (But you have to put in your email to use them, making them a ‘freemium’ product).
  • Supports over 25 languages.
  • Perfect tool for brainstorming, and it’s easy to take your ideas into a first draft and outline.
  • The 90+ templates will cover most people’s needs for a very long time.

Dislike:

  • You don’t get access to the ‘newest features’ on the ‘Free’ plan (whatever that means).
  • The user interface isn’t the easiest to navigate, you could say it takes some time to get used to.
  • It’s either 2K words on the ‘Free’ plan or 40K words on the ‘Pro’. There’s no middle ground for words, it’s either a few or many.

4. Rytr

The Ai writing tool of choice for those on a budget

Rytr AI writing software tool

Rytr is a Ai writing software tool that can write a wide variety of things for you. For example, it can help you with: blog outlines, email, landing page copy, brand names, ads, copywriting using both AIDA and PAS models, and much more.

Many AI writers use only the GPT-3 model, but Rytr blends both GPT-3 and their own proprietary template-based training data and best practices for each use case to generate text. To create your content, set the language and the tone of your text, and choose your ‘use case’, like ‘blog section writing’. Then all you do is to input your section topic and a few keywords, click ‘ryte’ and watch the algorithm get to work.

With its straightforward design and simple interface, it’s a tool that fits small to medium sized businesses that are interested in AI writing technology.

Key features:

  • Set the tone: Text with the right emotional impact converts better, that’s why you can choose from over 20 different tones like: candid, assertive, casual, etc.
  • 40+ use-cases: To cover all of your writing needs, there are many use-cases to choose from. Use the AI to create blog outlines, business ideas, emails, job descriptions, song lyrics, and much more.
  • 30+ languages: Forget the language barrier, Rytr includes languages like: Swedish, English, Korean and even Hindi (which not many supports).

Best feature: The pricing

I feel like the thing that makes Rytr stand out in the crowd of AI writing tools is its pricing.

To start with, they have a very generous free plan, where you can write up to 10K characters (around 2K words) a month. This also gives you access to all the use-cases, languages, and tones.

But even when you’re working your way into the paid plans, they’re still very affordable compared to many others. You can get on the ‘Saver’ plan for $9/month and that gives you 100K characters to play with (that’s between 14-25K words).

And if that’s not enough, for $29/month you get unlimited characters, a dedicated account manager, and priority support.

Just for the price alone, I think Rytr is worth checking out. So if you’re looking to try an Ai writing software, this is a good place to start.

Pricing:

  • Promotion: Free plan
  • Annual discount: Yes – 2 months for free
  • Free plan: (10K characters/month) $0/month
  • Saver plan: (100k characters/month) $9/month or $90/year (billed annually)
  • Unlimited plan: (Unlimited characters) $29/month or $290/year (billed annually)

What I like and dislike with Rytr

Like:

  • A very generous free plan that can cover many needs as is. No need to upgrade to a paid membership if you don’t need to.
  • Even on the most expensive plan, it’s still very affordable (I just had to mention it again, it’s that impressive).
  • The only AI so far that can produce content in Hindi.
  • Their recourse section is filled with good guides and answers most questions.
  • With so many use-cases, you don’t have to feel like you’ve “painted yourself into a corner”. And the use-case library is regularly updated.

Dislike:

  • Sometimes the output can be a bit repetitive, but that’s a sickness most AI writers suffer from.
  • One of maybe the biggest drawbacks is the fact that it doesn’t generate complete articles. You have to go through each headline and generate the paragraph, which means more work.

5. GrowthBar

One of the best AI writing software for bloggers

GrowthBar is both an AI writer and an SEO tool

GrowthBar is an all-in-one AI writing software and SEO suite built for bloggers and content creators. Not only does it help you create content with the click of a button, but it also helps you to ensure that what’s being generated is SEO optimized.

Being an all-in-one tool, you can do things like keyword research, brainstorm ideas and topics, spy on competitors, generate outlines, and more.

But it’s the long-form content generator that makes it such a good fit for bloggers.

GrowthBar is built using the GPT-3, which is a very powerful natural language processing model. Thanks to this, you can generate entire blog outlines with one single click, which also will include most of your subheadings as well. And with a click of a button, you can put the algorithm to work, generating large sections of texts based on your headlines. All this adds up to it only taking minutes for you to fill your blog post with unique content.

Plus, there’s also a Chrome extension that is included in every subscription. This means that you can take the AI with you and use GrowthBar when creating posts in for example WordPress.

Key features:

  • Blog posts: Create long-form blog posts that are optimized for SEO. Provide the AI with your target keyword and watch your blog post take shape.
  • Outlines: Not sure how to start your next post? With the blog outline feature you can generate multiple headlines, FAQ’s, etc. And to get you moving even faster, it even provides you with the main title and the introduction paragraph.
  • Meta data: The GrowthBar Ai can help you write more accurate meta descriptions with minimal input from you.
  • Keyword research: Find new promising keywords with the built in research tool. Each keyword comes with a difficulty score, search volume, and up to 200 related queries.
  • Keyword tracking: When you’ve written content about a keyword, keep track of how its doing in the search results.
  • Competitive analysis: What better way to know what to write about then to have a peak at your competitors. See what they’re doing, so you know what content to create.

Best feature: The long-form content generator

It is true, GrowthBar can generate entire long-form blog posts with just a few clicks.

Give the AI a keyword or keyphrase and hit ‘submit’, this will put the AI to work generating a draft. This will create a title and an intro section. Then use the drag-and-drop function to add more headlines to your post. These headlines are based on competitors who’ve already written about the subject before you, so you’re doing competitive research at the same time.

The cool part is that you can use the drag-and-drop function to drag the headlines into your post. Making it super simple to build an outline fast. Of course, you can still add your own headlines just by typing them in.

To then fill your post with text, highlight the headline and click ‘Write with AI’. And boom, text is being generated, and if you don’t like version one, just refresh it.

Since GrowthBar also is a SEO tool, you’ll get help with optimizing your texts as well. Based on your keyword, you’ll see data like:

  • How hard the keyword is to rank for.
  • Monthly searches.
  • Value of position one.
  • Suggested keywords to use.
  • Flesch reading score.

So not only do you get help with writing, you also get help optimizing it at the same time, nice.

Pricing:

  • Promotion: 5-day free trial
  • Annual discount: Yes
  • Standard plan: $48/month or $29/month (billed annually)
  • Pro plan: $99/month or $79/month (billed annually)
  • Agency plan: $199/month or $129/month (billed annually)

What I like and dislike with GrowthBar

Like:

  • It’s easy to add your team and work together on articles. From the start you can have up to two users and if you need more than ten, they’ll help you solve that too.
  • The long-form content creator is very easy and intuitive to use. And the drag-and-drop feature makes easy work of building your post structure.
  • I love that they’ve also included SEO features like keyword research, competition espionage and all those things. Makes it easy to know what to write, and how to make it rank.
  • You save money by not having to buy both an AI writing tool and a SEO tool, since GrowthBar can track keywords.

Dislike:

  • I feel like 200 paragraphs on the ‘Standard’ plan is a bit on the low side. (I average around 150 in my posts). If you write longer content, then 200 paragraphs is only one or two complete posts. Even the ‘Pro’ plan with 500 is still on the edge of enough for a month use. This however could be a small issue depending on how they define a paragraph.
  • The Chrome extension is only avaliable on paid subscriptions.
  • GrowthBar is one of the more expensive AI software, starting at $48/month. Although it comes with both an AI writer and a SEO tool.

What Are AI Writing Software?

AI writing software is a tool that combines artificial intelligence and machine learning to help speed up the content creating process. From coming up with ideas to generating complete unique article drafts, AI is there to help reduce the workload for content marketers and writers.

These days, with the help of AI, the content creation process can be transformed from hours of head-scratching, to minutes of waiting. It can help you come up with ideas for: ads, subject lines, emails, blog posts, sales pages, marketing copy, and much more.

In fact, AI writing software tools has become so popular these days that almost every business and entrepreneur is using some sort of AI-assistant when coming up with new content.

And it’s easy to understand why, AIs have become a lot “smarter” in just a few years, it’s affordable, and it will be able to spit out a very good draft whenever you need it.

However, AIs aren’t always perfect. I’d say that most of the content generated will require some sort of human touch before publishing. Or at the very least you need to add your own flavor to the mix to make it sound like something you’ve written.

Robots are good, but the thing that makes you, well you, is still very hard to replicate for a computer.

So if you’re struggling with writing, AI can help you speed up the process by creating the initial draft for you. Or if you’re struggling with coming up with topics to write about, an AI can suggest ideas based on what’s trending now.

How Does AI Writers Work?

Artificial intelligence is nothing more than a combination of miles of code, machine learning and algorithms. The combination of these three plus hours of training results in a neural network that can “think for itself”…sort of.

The AI gains knowledge by analyzing data over and over again so it can create a brain-like structure that is capable of mimicking actual writing, in this instance. (An AI is only good at the things it has been trained to be good at).

For writing, AIs uses the inputs you give it, like a headline or a keyword, from there it then scans multiple data sources and analyzes it in order to generate human-like text. For a blog post, these data sources can be hundreds of other blog posts found on the internet. The AI then “reads” everything in order to understand it so it can generate unique content that is readable for humans.

It’s pretty amazing what technology can do today.

A very popular AI writing model today is GPT-3, which is a neural network model created by OpenAI. GPT-3, for those who don’t know, is a language prediction model which is used by AI to generate very realistic human-like text.

It actually has around 10x more parameters that can be trained compared to any previous model.

In order to create such realistic text, the OpenAI GPT-3 model has trained on around 45 TB of data, including books, Wikipedia, articles, web crawling data, etc…

And once trained, the AI can generate text on its own.

The benefits of AI writing tools

The use of AI writing software sure sounds good, but are there any benefits of using it?

Yes there is, thanks to advancement in computer science, AIs has become so good that we can see real benefits from using them, such as:

Produce and publish high quality content faster

I think that the biggest benefit of using AI is probably the main reason why you’d want to get one of these software in the first place.

It’s the speed of which you can produce and publish high quality content.

This is because the AI software does all the hard work for you. It analyzes tons and tons of parameters in order to understand how to create a unique piece of content that has some actual meaning.

And when it writes the content, it does so while keeping track of things like: keywords, semantic keywords, grammar, structure, etc. so you end up with a text that is SEO optimized from the start.

With an AI writing software you can generate complete blog posts drafts in minutes, posts that are actually based on what people want to read and what search engines want to see. Leaving you with a draft that is of high quality and relevancy and that only needs some final tweaks before publishing.

All you need to do is to provide the AI with a topic and let computer science take care of the rest.

It’s an idea factory for new content topics

If you’re a writer, you’ve probably felt the pain of having writer’s block. The same thing goes for topics.

Once you’ve burned through your list of ideas, then what…you can’t stop writing. You need new, relevant topics to write about.

Coming up with new topics and ideas for content can be a struggle (at least for me), and this is where an AI tool can help you.

Most AI writing tools come with a feature that allows you to generate ideas from a simple keyword or based on what’s popular and trending at the moment.

Not only is this a great way to come up with new ideas, but it also helps you write content that is relevant to your audience right now.

Helps improver your grammar

Since I’m from Sweden, my native language isn’t English, which means that I know just how difficult it is to learn how to write in another language. Even as a daily writer in English, getting everything right is hard, but my grammar and style is improving since I practice so much.

But still, I don’t always know the right sentence buildup and synonyms for all the English words, and the hardest part to overcome is repetitive sentences (which at times can be seen in my writing). So having to use dictionaries and even google to get my grammar right is a daily thing.

I bet you recognize yourself in what I’m talking about.

If grammar and writing style is something you really struggle with, AI can be a real lifesaver.

These software are designed to improve your grammar and style to the point where your text sounds native and alive. Thanks to AI you can ditch that old-fashioned, outdated English course you took in 1976, and instead use technology to create error-free texts in record time.

Increased readability thanks to better structure

Relating back to the above point, having a good structure isn’t always easy, especially if you’re not writing in your own native language.

A nice benefit of using an AI writing software is that it helps you structure your texts for increased readability. Meaning that the software automatically considers important “structure points” when creating your text, so the final result is easy to read and has a natural flow to it.

Since articles with good structure are easy to read and understand, it’s kind of a ‘must have’ item. That is of course if you want your readers to actually read your entire article.

Easier to produce more relevant content

One really great benefit, and a thing that I mentioned earlier, is that an AI writing tool can help you generate ideas and topics for new, upcoming content.

What this means is that you can use it to build lists of topics that you know are relevant and interesting for your audience. Then, once you publish the content, thanks to the high relevance, your audience will find it more valuable and enjoyable to read.

Increased conversion rates

If you’re working with sales then you know that high conversion rates is king, no matter what you’re selling.

Most AI writing tools today can give you a hand with creating sales messages, product descriptions, headlines, etc.

And it doesn’t matter it you have a eCommerce store, sales funnel, landing page, membership site or webinar. Good attention grabbing, engaging and convincing sales copy has been proven to convert much better than bad copy and a pretty picture.

It’s constantly improving

The best thing about AI writing software is that they are constantly improving. Even though they’re good today, a year from now they’ll be even better, making it even easier for you.

And as more and more businesses start to adopt AI technology, and the more demand there is for AI the drive to continue developing them will only increase.

How does the future look for AI writing software?

I’d say that the future for AI writing software looks very bright. With both Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg saying that AI will be part of our future, so they’re definitely here to stay.

With the rapid technology development we have today, we can expect to see even more advanced AI writing tools in the future. And as they evolve, they’ll become a more and more valuable asset for content creators and business owners who want to improve their writing.

At some point, I believe that we’ll replace freelance writers with AI writing software tools, because it has become so affordable and easy to use.

Is AI writing good for content creators?

I’d say both yes and no.

Sure AI writing software can be extremely beneficial for content creators, it can help with the creation of blog posts, ads, landing pages, emails, etc. AI writing tools are almost a content creator’s “wet dream”.

Not only can it help you create the ideas for the content, but the actual content itself. The result it spits out is grammar correct, has good structure and style (up to a certain level).

Understandably, this is why AI writing software is so popular among content creators of all levels.

However, at the moment, I still find it to be more of a compliment rather than a complete replacement. As a content creator who has a personal brand, I want all the content I publish to have a touch of “me”.

And since I invest so much time, energy and money into my content, even with the help of an AI, I’d still go through everything to ensure that I’m 100% happy with the result before it ever leaves my desk.

So for me it will only be a compliment to speed up the draft creation process. Honestly, there will never be a replacement for you being an actual good writer.

Are AI writing software tools expensive?

If you didn’t skip to the end, I’m sure that you’ve seen all the pricing alternatives of the software above. And as you can see, prices start at around $10/month and then it’s up from there.

If this is expensive or not is like asking if a banana is yellow? – It depends, sometimes it is.

Can you afford to spend $10-50/month on an AI writing software? If your answers is yes, awesome. You can easily find an affordable AI solution that fits both your price range and needs.

However, if your answer is no and you can’t spend that kind of money, then it’s probably too expensive.

But, no matter if you can afford one right now or need to save up for it, most services come with either free plans or trials. So you can take the AI for a spin before making up your mind.

Conclusion

So those are my favorite AI writing software on the market right now.

There’s no doubt about it, AI-powered writing tools has change the way we crate content. Now we can create better content faster, boosting our reach and potential revenue.
