Pros and cons with Writesonic
Pros:
- Tons of tools and features makes Writesonic very versatile.
- The Article Writer 3.0 and 4.0 makes it super easy to go from idea to initial draft.
- It helps you correct your grammar by constantly monitoring your writing. A very valuable thing to have if you’re planing on writing in another language.
- Connect it to WordPress and export your project with one click.
- Has a browser extension so you can take the AI with you no matter where you go.
- Integrates with both Surfer SEO and Zapier
Cons:
- Even if you are precise with your commanded, the AI sometimes gets a “stroke” and generates content that doesn’t make much sense.
- Although the free for life plan is awesome, you need a paid plan if you’re planning on writing any kind of long form content.
- Lots of features can lead to some information overload, and at times it can be hard to know exactly what feature to use. So in the beginning you will “waste” words on experimenting before you know how every feature work.
- The lower quality words like “Economy” is using a less trained AI, which can have a negative impact on your writing. Even Writesonic themselves always recommend to write with premium words for best accuracy. A pro tips is to always look at the premium words when selecting a plan since this will give you the best results.

Rytr’s best features for writers and novelists
It’s easy to think that only because Rytr is on the cheaper side, that it can’t help you write your next novel or book.
If you think like that, you need to look again, here are some of Rytr’s best features for novelists:

Pros and cons with Rytr
Pros:

- Super simple and straightforward to use.

- Over 18 tones to choose from, from convincing and casual to formal and assertive. I’m pretty sure that no other offers as many tones as they do.
- Tons of support for language. They even offer some rare languages like Hindi, Farsi, Hebrew, Thai, etc.
- Built-in plagiarism checker with Copyscape, and it can also show you readability score.
- You can create your own custom use-cases, just in case the 40+ first aren’t enough and you need something for a unique situation.
Cons:
- It’s biggest drawback is that it can’t create long-form content from scratch in one sweep like Copy.ai or Writesonic. So there is a bit more work required if that’s something you want to do.
- Their pricing is in characters instead of words, which can be confusing when almost all other use words as a yard stick.
- This character limit also means that the free plan only can generate up to a maximum of 2K words and the ‘Saver’ plan only 20K words, at best. Which won’t cut it if you write lots of long-form content. In my mind the unlimited plan is a must if you intent to produce a lot of masterpieces.

What is AI novel writing software?
An AI novel writing software is a computer program that uses artificial intelligence to generate novels, web copy and even books.
These software are designed to help you create original, well-written stories that only need a few finalizing touches by you before they can be published.
To do this, you feed AI software with a number of parameters, such as genre, keywords, setting, tonality, structure, and more.
Then it uses advanced language processing models like OpenAI’s GPT-3 model to come up with content that is 100% unique based on your inputs. (This is a very oversimplified explanation of how this work).
The more advanced AI software can also generate novels based on specific genres or themes.
For example, you might input the keywords “fantasy” and “adventure” to generate a novel about a young wizard who goes on a quest to save the kingdom.
How does an AI novel writing software work?
An AI novel writing software works by taking a large amount of data, analyzing it, and using it to create a novel. The data can be anything from a collection of books to a database of articles.
If we look at the most common AI language processing model GPT-3 from OpenAI. You can quickly see that it has been trained on billions of data points.
This training data includes:
- Common crawl: 410 billion tokens – 60% of the training mix
- WebText2: 19 billion tokes – 22% of the training mix
- Books1: 12 billion tokens – 8% of the training mix
- Books2: 55 billion tokens – 8% of the training mix
- Wikipedia: 3 billion tokens – 3% of the training mix
All of this adds up to about 175 billion parameters, which is a lot…
Compare this to the GPT-2 model which “only” has 1,5 billion parameters trained.
All of this training makes GPT-3 one of the most capable writing models that can write very good human-like text with very little input.
I think it’s just amazing that we can train computers just like we train dogs these days.
For example, if you were to write a romantic novel, the software would read and analyze a lot of romance novels to understand the common themes, plot devices, and character archetypes.
And some of the really fancy AI writing software will even read and analyze your writing style to get a sense of how you write. Meaning that it basically trains itself…
Once it has all this information, it can start writing the novel for you.
Of course, it’s not going to be a perfect Charles Dickens on the first try, but it can get pretty close.
And, I’ve already seen some pre-release articles saying that GPT-4 is coming real soon, packing an even bigger punsch.
What other things can AI novel writing software help you with?
I’m going to be honest here, most AI novel writing assistant can do more that just write novels.
With a quick glance at the features of the above mentioned AI’s you can see that most have at least 10 additional use-cases.
So even though you set out for a novel writer, you can also get help with a bunch of other writing projects.
At closer inspection, you can see that the AI also can help you write:
- Song lyrics
- Ads
- Blog posts
- Outlines
- Business names
- Product descriptions
- Video copy
- Emails
- Real estate listings
- Press releases
- and much, much more.
Features you should look for in an AI novel writing software
When you searching for an AI writing software, it can be difficult to know what to features to look for exactly.
The spec sheets are typically a mile long and sorting through them can be time consuming, and even overwhelming.
What you need is a simple strategy that make easy work of those long feature lists. Not only does this make it easier for you to make a decision, but it also makes it super simple to compare different software.
Here’s what I think you should look at when choosing a AI novel writing software:
Unlimited words
Well, unlimited words is going to be hard to find…cheaply…
Most of the time, AI novel writing software will only have unlimited words once you get into the top tier or once you pass a certain level of words.
For example, Writesonic only have unlimited words on the custom plan, before that you’re stuck with “only” two million words. And Bramework only has it on the agency plan.
But you can still get a lot of words before you need to go completely unlimited.
The simplest thing you can do is calculate an average word count on the things you write to see how many words you need per month.
Take me for example (I use Writesonic with all premium words):
My average post length is around 3K words and I would like to post 8 times per month, even though that rarely has happened lately.
With some quick math you’ll see that I need 24K words per month to cover my post interwall. And that’s if I were to write every single word with AI (which I never do). So 25K words and I’ll be all set…
Unfortunately the reality is a bit different.
It actually takes more words than that to cover my post interwall. A more accurate number is closer to 5K words per post. This is because sometimes the AI generates content that you can’t use or don’t like.
In reality I need around 40K, say 50K words per month to leave a little wiggle room for experimentation.
So the best plan for me is the ‘Long-Form’ with 75K words per month.
You see where I’m going with this, it’s better to have a bit too many words that not enough.
Plagiarism and grammar checkers
A good AI tools should have built-in plagiarism and grammar checking features, to ensure that you create original and unique content that also has correct grammar.
Using the correct sentence structure and spelling is especially important if you writing in a language the you don’t natively speak. So it can help you catch things like repetitive sentences and just plain wrong use of words.
If you’re using a tool without plagiarism detection or grammar control, make sure to double-check the content before publishing it to avoid any copyright issues and misspellings.
Tools like Copyscape, Hemingway Editor and Thesaurus can help you with both word ideas, sentence structure and plagiarism if the AI you like don’t have this built-in.
Lots of languages
Another important thing to look at is how many languages the AI can write and understand.
As a novelist you know that not all novels are written in English.
Maybe you are a fellow Swede like me and want to write novels in Swedish, then you need an AI that can both understand and write in Swedish.
Fortunately, most AI novel writing software can write and understand well over 20 languages, but there are exceptions.
So before selecting anything, make sure that it has support for the language you want to write in.
Many use-cases
I know that you are looking for a way to use AI software that’ll help you write novels…
But I promise you that once you get the hang of using AI to speed up your writing, you’ll want to use it elsewhere as well.
Therefore you should look for an AI that has more than one single use-case, so you can expand your writing to multiple areas.
Rytr for example can help you write everything from story plots and emails to business ideas and job descriptions.
Easy sharing
Sharing your content is also very important. If you can’t get your content off the platform and to the place you publish it, then what’s the point…
Almost all AI novel writing software lets you export your projects as HTML, PDF’s, CSV’s, or as a public link. Making it super easy for you to publish your content wherever you need to.
Writesonic for example also has built-in integration support for WordPress, so you can share your bestsellers right on your website. I also know that Bramework is working on this.
Team access
As a writer, you know that writing can take up much of your time. So, distributing the work between your team mates means that you can get more done…faster.
But you need to check so the AI of your liking also allows you to invite your team.
Typically you can get support for up to five users on the regular plans. If your team is bigger that that you need to look at custom plans. For example:
Copy.ai’s custom plan can support over 20 seats, and Jasper business can support over 5 users.
The problem with custom plans is that they tend to be expensive, which might not be ideal for a small business.
If you’re a small business, I think that your best solution is only give a few of your team members access to the AI. Because words tends to be less expensive then seats.
Then you put the people with access to the AI in charge of coming up with the initial drafts and content ideas. These drafts can then be distributed across a bigger editorial staff for the final touches.
Doing it this wat can save some money on not having to go all in on those super expensive plans.
How AI can help you write a book or novel
If you’re a writer, you know that the hardest part of writing a book or novel is often just getting started. But what if there was a way to get over that initial hurdle?
Enter AI writing assistants.
Now, AI-powered writing tools can help you speed up the process of writing your book or novel. It’s there to help you at every stage of the writing process, from brainstorming to editing.
Start by giving the AI some initial data on what you want your novel to be about…
The AI will then scour the internet for data related to your topic and provide you with a structure for your story, characters and ideas, and even write whole scenes or chapters.
In short, the AI will help you generate unique ideas, plan your story and give you an initial draft within minutes.
Once you’ve written your book or novel, AI can also help you edit your work.
By catching and identifying errors and offering suggestions to correct them, you can sleep well knowing that your content is grammatically correct. (Invaluable if you’re writing in a language that isn’t native to you).
It can also help you improve your writing by suggesting alternative phrases or words, making your text come to life in ways you might not have thought of.
And the best part is, they’re always available to help, 24/7. So if you’re feeling stuck or just need a little inspiration, AI can be a great writing partner.
Is AI-generated text and content plagiarism free?
It’s a myth that AI writers only generate random content that is pulled from already existing content on the internet.
The reality is that AI is far more advanced than that.
These days most AI novel writing software uses GPT-3 model as a base for their platforms. If you don’t know, GPT-3 is one of the most powerful language generators so far, and is trained on 10x more than any previous model.
And this advanced autoregressive language model also uses deep learning to produce human-like text.
So, GPT-3 is very much capable of generating unique, original, plagiarism-free content.
Take Jasper, for example, it uses GPT-3 and can generate original content that doesn’t repeat itself and is 99.99% plagiarism free.
But saying is one thing, the reality is another…
I’ve done some research on this myself and have found that most of the text generated is unique content.
I used Writesonic to generate a 2,000+ word text and ran it through Copyscape. (I chose the topic “ecommerce platform” to see what it could do in a niched area).
The result came back showing that only 15 words could be matched with another site.
And if you look closer at the words it matched, most of them were generic words that happened to be in the same order.
These errors wouldn’t take much time at all to correct those errors.
Impressive for a computer-generated text.
The biggest problem with AI is that it struggles to get all the facts right…
So always fact-check your AI-generated content before publishing it.
