You might already know what the ClickFunnels favicon is…
But do you know how to properly replace the default favicon with your own custom one?
I thought I did, until I discovered that I’ve been using the wrong method for years.
So, to ensure that your favicons works in all weathers I’ve put together this complete guide to help you add your favicon the proper way.
Let’s dive right in.
What’s a Favicon?
If you look at your current browser tab (or bookmark field) you’ll see an icon to the left, that’s the favicon.
Or to be even more precise, the blue ball thingy in this browser tab is TLO’s own favicon.
This small icon is directly linked to a website or a web application, kind of like the ID icon for the website.
To give you some examples, here are the browser tabs favicons for ClickFunnels, Bluehost, Neilpatel, and Optinmonster.
What’s a favicon used for?
This little icon is used to make it easier for you to identify websites, web pages, and web applications faster within browser tabs, bookmarks, and shortcuts.
This is also why it’s so important for your brand recognition to have a easily identifiable favicon on your website.
Using a memorable favicon makes it easier for the users to remember who you are without having to look at the URL.
And the best thing is that even if a user saves your page in the bookmark field, under a different name, your favicon will always be there to identify you.
Some companies use their logo as a favicon, and while this is something I generally recommend too, it’s not always possible to pull off.
Just look at mine for example, there is no way that I could fit my entire brand name in that tiny little square.
So I had to design my own favicon, and that’s okat as long as you stay consistent and use the same icon on all pages associated with your brand.
Favicon SEO
It won’t hurt your SEO score by having a favicon present on your site. But there is also no indications that shows that a favicon will increase rank score.
But remember that search engines like DuckDuckGo and Google Search mobile, displays favicons in the search results.
By having a memorable icon in place, you can stand out from the crowd. This can also give you a boost in CTR and that’s never a bad thing in my book.
And if you’re building a serious brand and you are taking your business seriously (which you always should), a favicon is a must for recognition and trust.
If you don’t bother to add a favicon, it can lead to lower CTR and loss of trust, and in general make you page look bad.
But it’s not crucial for SEO rank and page scouring.
However, since it’s so easy to add one, why risk it, just add one to be on the safe side.
Favicon Generator
If you’re a DIY person like me, then you’ll fire up Inkscape and start designing your own favicon form scratch (because using existing tools aren’t challenging enough).
However, if you don’t want to learn how to use Inkscape or similar, then there is a solution for you too.
It’s called favicon.io.
This is a free online tool that can generate a favicon for any imagen, in seconds…
And you’ll even get multiple sizes to choose from once it’s done.
By the way, remember that the favicon dimensions are small. Don’t use images with tons of content, it will look like a disaster if you do. Keep it simple.
Proper Sizing of the ClickFunnels Favicon
If you’re a WordPress user, then you know that the recommended favicon size is 512×512 pixels.
So you could easily think that this would be a standardized size…it’s not!
ClickFunnels uses a recommended favicon size of 16×16 or 32×32 pixels.
That’s a whopping 496 pixels smaller than WordPress!
And the suggested file type to use is PNG, GIF, or ICO.
Luckily for you, favicon.io includes both a 16×16 and a 32×32 pixel version included in their download file (PNG).
I don’t really know what happens if you add a favicon bigger than 32 pixels to ClickFunnels, maybe it’s a loading problem that might occurs.
I do know that I’ve used icons in the 600 pixels range and it worked fine…
But I started using the suggested dimension just in case it affected page loading speed. And I want all of the speeds I can get.
Add a Favicon Image to Your ClickFunnels Account
First things first.
Before we add a favicon to a funnel, you need to add the image file to your ClickFunnels account.
Just in case you don’t know, here’s how to do that:
- From your dashboard, navigate to Account Settings.
- Once in Account Settings, go to Digital Assets.
- Click on New Asset.
- In Upload File, Choose your favicon (max 32×32 pixels and 3MB file size).
- Give your asset a name in the Asset Name field. Give it a good name in case you can to add more favicons to other brands in the future.
- Leave the rest of the fields empty.
- Click on the Add button and you’re done.
Now you have added your favicon as a digital asset in ClickFunnels, and you can see it among all your other assets under Manage Digital Assets – My Digital Assets.
All that’s left now is to add the icon to your funnels.
How to Change Favicon in ClickFunnels
Alright, you’ve uploaded a favicon to your asset library and now it’s time to add it to a funnel.
Let’s do that now.
- Go to Digital Assets.
- Find the favicon you want to use.
- Click on the three vertical dots to open the menu.
- Click on Copy Asset Path.
- Head over to Funnels and select your funnel.
- Click on Settings.
- Past the asset path into the Favicon URL field.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page an click on Save And Update Settings (which is super easy to forget, ask me how I know).
- And you’re done.
Awesome, you just added your own favicon to the funnel and it will now show i the browser tab for every page inside that specific funnel.
That’s the downside, you have to remember to add this icon to all of your funnels individually, since this isn’t a global setting for your account.
One you get up to speed building funnels it will become a natural part of your set up procedure to add it.
And you’ll always have easy access to it since it’s only two clicks away in your digital asset portfolio.
You should also know that it can take up to 24 hours for the favicon to update, but it usually goes much, much faster than that in my experience.
Conclusion
Wow , this turned out to be a quiet a long post for just adding a favicon to ClickFunnels.
To summarize, here are the most important thing to remember:
- Use size 16×16 or 32×32 pixels.
- Try favicon.io if you don’t want to make your own icons from scratch.
- You need to have an active ClickFunnels account for this to work (obviously).
- Add it as a digital asset inside your ClickFunnels account.
- Must be added to each individual funnel separately.
- Every funnel under the same brand should have the same favicon.
Now I want to turn it over to you:
