Today I’m going to show you exactly how to create a ClickFunnels auto-redirect page.
Maybe you’ve heard of this before, or you might have seen someone using it before.
The hardest thing to figure out is how to set on up and make it work properly.
That’s where this guide comes into play.
So let’s dive right in.
Why Auto-Redirect In The First Place
For a very long time I wanted to be able to make one page funnels like I’ve see so many others marketers do.
And I was really close to be honest…
I got the design right and I even collected email addresses to build an email list.
But I never managed to get the conversion tracking to work properly on a one page funnel (that is usually the problem).
I couldn’t get the conversion tracker to fire on a button click and I couldn’t understand why.
So I was stuck trying to make ‘Thank You’ pages that didn’t have too high of a drop-off rate, only because I wanted my tracking code to work properly.
This was pretty annoying since I knew that a one page funnel would convert better.
You know…less steps, less things to go wrong.
And less work for me.
So I decided to find a solution on my own.
I knew that there must be a way for me to have a simple redirect and still have conversion tracking that worked.
After much trial and error I manage to figure out that there were 3 ways to make a ClickFunnels auto-redirect page that was working consistently over and over again.
The On Submit Go To way, The Hidden Timer way and The Java Script way.
And today I want to share my knowledge on this with you.
Option #1: On Submit Go To
Want to redirect your visitors to a specific URL after they’ve submitted their information?
This is by far the easiest way to create a ClickFunnels auto-redirect page.
The On Submit Go To function allows you to collect the information from your visitors and then redirect them to another URL outside (or inside) your funnel.
This way you are no longer forced to go to the next step in the funnel.
And with this method you can build simple one page funnels. Quiet a handy thing if you are an affiliate marketer for instance.
So let’s have a look at how we can achieve this simple redirect.
How to use the On Submit Go To function
Step #1:
Select the page in your funnel that will submit your form.
Are you building a funnel from scratch?
Remember, if you want to be able to submit a form you need to have an email address input field and the button action set to submits the page.
Step #2:
Start up the funnel editor inside ClickFunnels. Once inside the editor navigate to Settings – General.
This will open the general settings for the page.
Enter the URL you want the visitor to end up on in the On Submit Go To field. This is not limited to an external URL:s, it can also be a place further down your funnel.
Note: If you are copying and pasting your URL into the field, it’s important that you use the keyboard controls, you know Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V
Step #3:
Save and preview your funnel.
Note: To ensure that t’s working correctly, enter your own email address and submit the form. This way you’ll also check that your autoresponder in working as it should.
Congratulations!
You’ve just made the simplest ClickFunnels auto-redirect page.
One more thing you need to know is that, if you want to use for instance Google conversion tracking software and this method of redirect…
You can’t, or at least I haven’t figured out how to get the conversion tracking code snippet to fire on a button click…yet…
If you want to be able to use conversion tracking you might want to keep on reading.
Option #2: The Hidden Timer
Alright, so you do want to be able to use conversion tracking and still redirect to another URL.
Then this is the simplest way to do so…
By using ClickFunnels build in minute timer element to trigger the redirect.
However, this does requires you to have a ‘Thank You’ page. So there is a slight increase in work.
But for the most part you’ll have this page anyway to deliver further information.
Like for saying “Thank you for subscribing”.
The best thing here is that you can add your conversion tracking code to this page, which makes it work perfectly every time someone lands on the page.
Enough talking let’s get to work.
How to use the hidden timer
Step #1:
Create a ‘Thank You’ page.
Step #2:
Head over to the ClickFunnels editor and navigate to Elements – Countdown – Minute Timer.
Drag and drop the timer wherever you feel suiting. I usually place it somewhere near the bottom, but it doesn’t matter that much since it’s going to be hidden.
Note: If you want to display the timer countdown instead of using a loading GIF, place the timer where the GIF would be and don’t hide it.
Step #3:
Enter the settings for the timer (the little cog wheel in the top right if you hover on it).
Set your redirect time. I usually set it to 10 seconds or something like that (it’s up to you to decide on time).
Set Expire Action to: Redirect To URL
Enter you URL in the Redirect URL field
I have also set the Re-Visit Action to Auto Reset Timer.
Step #4:
Skip to step #6 if you don’t want to hide the timer!
With the timer settings open, navigate to the bottom and click on the eye icon. This will hide the timer for your visitors…and yourself.
Note: To modify the timer after you’ve hidden it. Hover over the Elements menu and click on Manage. This will display all elements on the page and you will see that the timer has a strikethrough over the eye. Click on that eye to show the timer again.
Step #5:
Add the loading GIF.
Go to Google and do a quick search for “loading GIF” and you’ll find something great.
But it can be a simple plain text or an image of you. It doesn’t really matter, it’s for making things look pretty.
Step #6:
Add the redirect fail safe button/link
If the timer would fail we need to add a way for the visitor to access the URL in some other way.
I usually add a text below the loading image that says something like:
“If it haven’t loaded within 10 seconds, Click Here!”
Mark the Click Here text and add a link to the text (that’s the little chain icon you’ll see when you click on the text field).
The Click Here URL should be the same as the auto-redirect URL.
Step #7:
Hit save and do a preview of the page to see if everything looks and function as it should.
That’s it!
One more thing…
I have noticed that this method sometimes doesn’t execute the redirect for some reason.
All it takes for it to work after initial loading is to hit F5 and wait for the page to refresh.
Don’t know why this is, but this is why it’s important to have a button with the link added as well.
Moving on…
Option #3: The Java Script Trick
Okay, so you felt like the On Submit Go To and The Hidden Timer was to easy.
Well I got something in store for you…
Java script!
This is also my favorite way of doing it, old programmer damage you know.
Hold on!
Before you freak out, shut down your computer and hide under a blanket in fear of ‘Java’ and ‘scripts’, just hear me out.
First of all, the code is already done and I’m going to give it to you in a second.
And second…
It’s not that hard and I’ll show you how easy it is to set up a ClickFunnels auto-redirect page with Java script.
Let’s get into some scripts.
How to use the Java Script trick
Step #1:
Create the ‘Thank You’ page.
Step #2:
Open the editor and add content to the page. It can be as simple as:
“Thank you for subscribing, we are preparing you free gift”.
Step #3:
Navigate to Settings – Tracking Code.
Once the Tracking Code window has opened, you want to copy and paste the code below to the </> Header Code section.
<meta http-equiv=”refresh” content=”5; url=https://google.com”/>
Step #4:
Customize the code…or more correctly, add your data to the code.
You can leave everything as is except for the number and the URL.
The number stands for the amount of time (in seconds) the code will wait before the redirect takes place.
And the URL stands for…well the target URL.
If you are an affiliate or have a long “weird looking” URL, you have to make sure to enter the URL exactly how you see it (this is not the time to be creative).
If the URL is ‘https://awesomeblog.com/1234’, enter that exact URL in the URL spot – Don’t write ‘www.awesomeblog.com’, the redirect won’t work correctly.
This redirect script will take you exactly to the URL you enter. Nothing more, nothing less!
So it’s important the you check that you’ve added the correct URL at least 5 times.
Step #5:
Add a loading image to the page to make it look pretty.
If you are really serious you’ll add a GIF (like a true hacker).
Step #6:
Add a manual redirect text below the image, this to make sure that the visitor can get to the content even if the script fails.
Something like: “If it doesn’t load within 10 seconds, Click Here” will do.
Make sure to hyperlink the Click Here words. This link should be the same URL as the one you added in the script.
Step #7:
Hit save and preview the page.
Wait for the time to pass and make sure that the redirect takes you to the right place.
And boom you are done, you’ve added a auto-redirect script to your funnel.
Well done!
Conclusion
There you have it, 3 different ways to make a ClickFunnels auto-redirect page, from simple to not so hard.
So what can did we learn from this?
The first thing is that we now can make smooth redirects from our front end offer pages to any page we want (that has a URL).
Another thing that we no longer need is the need to make super fancy ‘Thank You’ pages. Because now we have these redirect functions that is compatible with our conversion tracking.
Before I knew about these redirect scripts. I was always trying to build high converting ‘Thank You’ pages.
Why?
Well…My stats told me that I lost customers on these pages.
Now I use these scripts and a super simple ‘Thank You’ page to make my life easier…
And to generate more sales.
Because getting people to the right place faster will boost sales.
That’s pretty awesome!
Before I forget, If you want your own copy of the funnel I used in this example you can import it to your ClickFunnels account HERE! It’s complete with one version of the On Submit Go To, The Hidden Timer and The Java Script Trick.
